Illegal waste disposal
The business failed to use a licenced waste disposal company; instead they disposed of their waste in public bins and by putting bags along the street.
Despite warnings and requests to provide waste documentation, the owner provided no response, including two attempts by waste service officers.
This led to legal action being taken – Two fixed penalty notices for dumping were issued as well as a notice under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Outcome
After ignoring both of the fixed penalty notices the court fined the owner and added a victim surcharge, demonstrating the seriousness of waste disposal violations. The owner pled guilty to two offences.
Haringey Council emphasizes that businesses must follow legal waste disposal regulations to protect the environment and community.
Conclusion
This case shows that many individuals and business owners do not take disposing of their waste in the proper way seriously and as a result end up facing fines and criminal charges. The government and local councils are making an effort to combat fly tipping and illegal waste dumping such as this.
